LAND & WATER RECREATION

“[We got] to know more about various outdoor activities and offered an opportunity to try things never done before.”
— Moraine State Park Regatta Attendee

Providing Free Demos of Land and Lake Activities Led by Expert Instructors and Outfitters

In 2022, more than 1000 participants from ages 0-82 took part in our Regatta recreation activities. There were a variety of lessons and outings available for attendees throughout the weekend that included kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, sailboat rides, yoga, archery, and more.

The Regatta also had recreation activities aimed at promoting senior health and wellness, thanks to a partnership with the PA lottery.

Kids’ fishing was also available throughout the weekend. Sign ups are not required for kids’ fishing.

Archery with DCNR

Archery is a fun activity, which people from all walks of life and almost every size and ability can participate. The bow and arrow are two of the oldest tools known to humans, dating back to the Stone Age. To some, archery is considered a lifetime sport, and to others it’s just another way to connect to the great outdoors or with good friends. Whether you are doing archery to compete for the Olympic Gold, recreational target shooting, or to provide food for the family, the act of shooting a bow and arrow builds confidence, self-esteem, and your ability to focus. So, come learn the basics of archery through instruction and see just how good you are at target shooting.  For ages 10 and up.
